| AvMap/Navigation has introduced the EKP-IV PRO portable GPS moving map system, specifically designed for law enforcement, Search And Rescue (SAR) and homeland security customers. The EKP-IV PRO is an upgraded version of the EKP-IIIC PRO system that has been available to customers in the law enforcement sector for the past few years. “The EKP-IV PRO has been designed with input from our special operations customers, integrating mission-specific features,” said Ken Cirillo, General Manager of AvMap Navigation. “The result of hundreds of hours of flight operation in the general aviation community, the EKPIV PRO is now ready to be put to use by those customers in need of a low cost, high performance solution that addresses the needs of law enforcement, SAR survey/surveillance and other special mission operations.” The enhancements added to the PRO include: SAR patterns (Expanding Square, Rectangle & Circle) with User-Definable Planning; regional detailed TeleAtlasÒ Street/City data (included with the purchase of the EKP-IV PRO), Street/City Address Search capability, Pilot Configurable Alarms (for TCAs) and compatibility with a special NVG screen film (that can be removed when not needed). Coming soon: TAWS, Victor Airways and Private Airports. “We are confident that the PRO will fulfill the needs of demanding special operation missions, providing pilots the perfect situational awareness tool in the cockpit,” stated Cirillo. “The EKP-IV PRO offers the power of a navigational computer -- complete with all the features found in advanced systems (JeppesenÒ Nav-Data, Flight Planning, Airspace Displays, Approaches, HSI and more) -- yet with a simple, user-friendly interface.” Another great improvement with the EKP-IV PRO over the previous version is the capability to switch the screen orientation from horizontal to vertical. This allows the unit to be used in the traditional kneeboard mode or mounted either on the yoke, floor, chair rail, panel or airframe (using either the panel mount from AirGizmoÒ or RAMÒmounts). |
